"I'm an emergency physician and this recent week was a long week... saw a lot of death and it never gets any easier. One thing I really appreciate was how supportive my hospital has been throughout, making sure they followed up with us and made sure we were doing okay mentally during this time and providing resources as needed. Everyone understands to look out for each other and signs of burnout and post traumatic stress. Everyone in the department are now so close to each other, the doctors, nurses, environmental services staff, having gone through months of hardship and loss. We got through last April and the summer and we will get through this now. There is finally light at the end of the tunnel with the vaccine, and that is what keeps us going right now."
We appreciate the opportunity to share stories like these with our community, with the goal of destigmatizing the struggles faced within the medical field.
