"Anonymous thoughts from a physician. I think all of us in the medical field have to be a bit atypical for us to be choosing a profession where we dedicate at least a decade of our lives for post-secondary education. Abnormally high tolerance towards stress, fatigue, pain, and heartbreak (and absolute nonsense from difficult patients!). Obsession over a lifestyle that most would not dream of. Extraordinary compassion towards suffering. I may be overgeneralizing, but it is true that this field may attract a certain crowd with an abnormal set of cognitions that is extremely rare. So whatever symptoms you have or disorders try to label yourself with, know that you are already blessed with a mind that is so special. That is your gift to the world."
We appreciate the opportunity to share stories like these with our community, with the goal of destigmatizing the struggles faced within the medical field.
