"I think that me and my pre-med friends don't make time for our own wellness because of the culture that we compete in. It is probably different at every school, but at my school, an ivy league college, people get wrecked by curves and competition. The classes are filled with neurotic students who used to get straight A's in high school but are getting destroyed by really difficult courses while trying to balance all the extracurriculars that are expected of us. A lot of pre-meds get washed out and burned out even though this is only the beginning of the journey. I think its just as much the people as it is the culture. I hear that medical school culture gets better though with pass fail grading, so I'm definitely looking forward to that and am glad things are being done to get rid of competitiveness. I wish that it was the same for the pre-medical level also."
